Arco Arena Tickets at Half Price – The True Market Value?

by on Oct.15, 2010, under Discount Ticket Deals

Concert tickets for the Alan Jackson show at Arco Arena on Thursday November 4th were lowered to half price today by Ticketmaster from $89.50 to $44.75. If you purchased an Arco Arena ticket before today you paid to much because the $44.75 price is probobly the true market value of Alan Jackson today.

Live Nation has vowed to drop concert ticket prices next year but that remains to be seen. The large number of concerts that offered huge discounts and free tickets this last year should suggest to Live Nation that it is necessary to drop ticket prices dramatically. And not just the cheap seats in the upper deck.

Album Sales Down – Should Artists Slim Down as Well?

by on Jun.04, 2010, under Business News, Entertainment News

Billboard.com is reporting the  number of albums sold the week ending May 31 was the fewest albums sold in a week since the 1970′s. Less than 5 mil albums were sold for a particularly slow album release week, but it is also part of a trend that has decimated the music industry as they fight the pirating of their music.

Since the music is being pirated the artists are not getting paid as well and are now forced to tour year after year to pay for things. The younger generation that has done most of the pirating on the web still have the most reasonably priced concert tickets for the most part, with the exception of Lady Gaga’s ticket prices.

One of the reasons given by Live Nation for raising the ticket prices recently was to counter the loss of income from album sales. But the concerts that have been jacked up the most are the older artists such as The Eagles, Roger Waters, Rush, etc.  I can’t imagine a huge number of their fans are trolling the web to pirate songs.

Most of the older artists have been receiving royalties for decades for their best work and don’t need to jack up their fans with high ticket prices. Not only that, the quality of the music is suffering a little with the age, and even old ears can tell the difference.

I would suggest to the artists that maybe they need to cut their budgets a bit to help out the fans and keep the concert ticket prices down so the fans don’t have to sacrifice so much to attend a concert. The music business has changed dramatically the last few years, just as the ticket business, and the money just isn’t there right now.

Cheap Seats on Sale!

Some of the best Britney Spears tickets for the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, on Wednesday night are available at very low prices. You can get an excellent, cheap seat in the first few rows of the upper level, or down in front with the best view in the house.

The Boston Red Sox will be playing the Baltimore Orioles tomorrow evening and the prices start at around $20 per seat, but this weekends series against the Tampa Bay Rays are almost double, at $39 and up per seat.

Dave Matthews Band Tickets at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on Sept 9th and 10th, are starting at an affordable price of $50 each, not bad in today’s market for a great artist and venue.

The New York Yankees are playing the Tampa Bay Rays today and Wednesday at the New Yankee Stadium, and prices start in the low $20′s. Be prepared for a big jump in prices in the postseason though.

Blink 182 have several shows this week in Oregon and Washington, before heading down to Sacramento’s Sleep Train Amphitheater on Saturday. This is another good show for pretty good seats at reasonable prices.

Ticket prices for the AC/DC concert in Phoenix at the US Airways Center on Thursday may still be a little high today, but check back later today or tomorrow if your looking for something more affordable, there are still plenty of seats showing.

Most MLB baseball games this week are at some pretty good prices because of the upcoming postseason, so if you’re looking for some cheap fun, try a baseball game this week or any of the many concerts on sale.
