49ers Stadium Builders Licenses to help finance new stadium
by Greg Cullen on Jul.06, 2011, under Sports News
The San Francisco 49ers have hired the Legend Premium Sales agency to handle the sales of the Stadium Builders Licenses, or psl’s with a new name. No mention of the cost of the SBL’s was released but they are sure to play a big part in financing the new 49ers stadium in Santa Clara.
The Santa Clara Stadium Authority approved the selection for the SBL’s and a number of things related to the construction of the stadium but everything still waits for the NFL strike to be settled and the new collective bargaining agreement to help pay some of the costs.
Now may be a good time for the San Francisco 49ers to improve. After years of jacking up the 49er ticket prices many longtime fans have been jumping ship and sales to ticket brokers and corporate clients have been taking up the slack because they are the ones that can afford them.
49ers vs Raiders game biggest of year for 49er fans
by Greg Cullen on Aug.23, 2010, under Sports News
The San Francisco 49ers schedule for the 2010 NFL season has some pretty big games at Candlestick Park this year with the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints coming to town for the second home game and the San Diego Chargers opening up the season at Candlestick Park on September 2nd. But the biggest game of the year is between the 49ers and the Oakland Raiders on October 17th.
Tickets for the 49ers vs Raiders game are currently sold out through Ticketmaster but you can still find seats for the big game from sports ticket brokers with the prices running over $100 per ticket at this time. Never mind that the Raiders haven’t played well in years, the rivalry goes back far enough to keep the interest high when they play each other in the regular season.
In comparison to other San Francisco 49er football games, the 49ers vs Chargers game on September 2nd has really cheap 49er tickets available. This is the cheapest 49er game of the year with tickets running only $15 each to get in the door. The best seats for the 49ers will run you under face value with 40-50 yard line seats running just over $100 each.
These ticket prices for the 49ers are pretty amazing considering the San Diego Chargers had a great year last season and this is the home opener. But the economy is taking it’s toll. It’s hard to imagine how the 49ers will convince 49er fans to cough up the money for PSL’s for a new stadium in Santa Clara when they have this kind of trouble selling a premium game on the secondary market.
San Francisco 49er tickets are on sale now for all their 2010 NFL regular season games without any hidden fees or service charges.
49er Stadium Vote for Santa Clara Hides PSL Prices
by Greg Cullen on Jun.07, 2010, under Sports News
The San Francisco 49ers are asking Santa Clara to commit to $444 million without releasing PSL costs. This Tuesday the residents of Santa Clara will vote on whether to approve the 937 million stadium for the San Francisco 49ers and immediately commit $114 million of taxpayers money to the deal. It would eventually cost the city of Santa Clara 444 million to build the 68,500 seat stadium. (Sacramento Bee).
The 49ers on the other hand are insisting that PSL’s or personal seat licenses are the only way the new 49er stadium can pay for itself. But they won’t release any costs estimates for the PSL’s even though it is obvious they know what they will be or they could not even have gotten this far without that information.
It’s nice that the mayor of Santa Clara says that they are not worried about the PSL’s at City Hall, but it’s their residents that will have to pay for them. And to ask to pony up $444 million without being told what they will have to pay for 49er season ticket PSL’s is crazy. If you look at the Dallas Cowboys new stadium, those PSL’s went from $2000 to $500,000! Can you imagine what that does to the cost of a football game ticket?
The San Francisco 49ers just got finished jacking up their ticket prices this last season, pissing off a great number of long time 49er fans. And now it’s obvious they don’t give a damn about their fans or the citizens of Santa Clara by hiding the true cost of bring the 49ers to town in order to get the vote. I hope the residents of Santa Clara are smart enough to realize they are being taken for an expensive ride, and don’t count on the Santa Clara city counsel to help either.
San Francisco 49er tickets are on sale now for the 49ers 2010 season. Get them while they don’t have PSL’s, the price will surely go up when they do.
