Roger Waters adds Oracle Arena, Staples Center, TD Garden
by Greg Cullen on Jun.15, 2010, under Entertainment News
Roger Waters continues to grow “The Wall” concert tour with more extra dates going onsale today for the Oracle Arena, Staples Center and TD Garden in Boston. That gives the Roger Waters tour three dates at TD Garden and the Staples Center and so far only one date scheduled at the Oracle Arena, but that will surely change.
The Roger Waters concert tour is one of the bright spots for Live Nation this summer with the very high ticket prices the concerts have still been sellouts across the country. You can bet ticket brokers and Ticketmaster both wish there were more concert tours like this.
Album Sales Down – Should Artists Slim Down as Well?
by Greg Cullen on Jun.04, 2010, under Business News, Entertainment News
Billboard.com is reporting the number of albums sold the week ending May 31 was the fewest albums sold in a week since the 1970′s. Less than 5 mil albums were sold for a particularly slow album release week, but it is also part of a trend that has decimated the music industry as they fight the pirating of their music.
Since the music is being pirated the artists are not getting paid as well and are now forced to tour year after year to pay for things. The younger generation that has done most of the pirating on the web still have the most reasonably priced concert tickets for the most part, with the exception of Lady Gaga’s ticket prices.
One of the reasons given by Live Nation for raising the ticket prices recently was to counter the loss of income from album sales. But the concerts that have been jacked up the most are the older artists such as The Eagles, Roger Waters, Rush, etc. I can’t imagine a huge number of their fans are trolling the web to pirate songs.
Most of the older artists have been receiving royalties for decades for their best work and don’t need to jack up their fans with high ticket prices. Not only that, the quality of the music is suffering a little with the age, and even old ears can tell the difference.
I would suggest to the artists that maybe they need to cut their budgets a bit to help out the fans and keep the concert ticket prices down so the fans don’t have to sacrifice so much to attend a concert. The music business has changed dramatically the last few years, just as the ticket business, and the money just isn’t there right now.
Roger Waters Concert Tickets Selling Out
by Greg Cullen on May.10, 2010, under Entertainment News
Tickets for Roger Waters concerts that just went on sale have been selling out around the country and several venues including the HP Pavilion, TD Garden and Madison Square Garden have already added additional concert dates for Roger Waters. On this tour Roger will be performing “The Wall” live along with other Pink Floyd favorites.
Though ticket prices for the Roger Waters “The Wall” concerts are steep, some of the best seats are going to be in the rear of the arena, facing the stage. After all, Roger Waters and Pink Floyd concerts are as much about the visual, as well as the quality of the sound. And the best sound and arguably the best view for a Roger Waters concert will be back by the sound board, but elevated for a better view.
Don’t miss your chance to see Roger Waters live in concert. If you didn’t get your chance at the presale for Roger Waters you don’t have to worry because there are still plenty of Roger Waters tickets available, but the best ones always go fast.
