Thanksgiving week is a great time to get together with family and friends and there are many things you can all do together besides just sitting around and eating turkey. There are a number of great live holiday shows during the holidays throughout the country in theatres and arenas.

Some of the most popular are the theatre shows such as Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Wicked the Musical, The Jersey Boys, and White Christmas.

Mannheim Steamroller will be touring this holiday season, bringing their Christmas sounds and multimedia effects to the stage. This is the 25th Anniversary of the first Mannheim Steamroller Christmas album and they have sold over 356 million albums under the direction of Chip Davis. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra have a unique Christmas sound as well, with a rock n roll over the top lazer light show to dazzle the audience. The Trans Siberian Orchestra may be a little too loud for some with the electric guitars, but most will enjoy the renditions of Christmas classics and original material. If it’s sports the family is interested in then there’s the three football games on Thanksgiving day with the Green Bay Packers vs the Detroit Lions at Ford Field, the Oakland Raiders vs the Dallas Cowboys at Cowboy Stadium and the New York Giants vs the Denver Broncos at Invesco Field. There are plenty of NFL tickets and games available for these games and the entire weekend.

You’ll find tickets for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular to be a great holiday gift idea this year and if you can’t make the show at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City, there’s a chance the tour is coming to a city near you. The Radio City Christmas Spectacular tour is currently performing in over 20 cities for the upcoming holiday season from the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta, to the Paramount Theatre in Washington.

The holiday show was the idea of the Music Hall’s stage producer Leon Leonidoff and the designer Vincente Minelli and the first performance of the Radio City Music Hall Christmas show was in December of 1933. It’s been a Christmas favorite in New York City ever since with over a million people visiting the Radio City Music Hall to see it.

In 2007 the Radio City Christmas Spectacular was updated with new choreography and design by Linda Haberman. The Rockettes are still the stars of the show with their legendary performance of “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers”, but Santa taking the kids on a magical sleigh ride to the North Pole is a favorite of the children as well. Concert tours on sale this week include a host of dates for the Kiss Alive 35 concert tour that will kick off at the Cobo Arena in Detroit, Michigan, on Friday September 25th and continuing through December 5th at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Kiss will be in full costume for this tour and they’ll be playing hits from their new album, Sonic Boom , due out on October 6th.

You know it’s getting close to the holidays when you start seeing tour dates for The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, and Dave Koz, A Smooth Jazz Christmas on sale. The perennial concert tour by the Trans Siberian Orchestra Winter Tour will be kicking off this weekend with the first show at the newly renamed Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio and ending at the Allstate Arena on December 26th.

Some of the other artists adding concert dates to their tour include: Kelly Clarkson, The Stone Temple Pilots, Bill Cosby, and sure to be a favorite for children everywhere, Disney on Ice Princess Classics.
