The 2012 NHL Winter Classic has the Philadelphia Flyers taking on the New York Rangers at Citizens Bank Park on January 2 and finding a cheap Winter Classic ticket is even harder than last year. Part of the reason is that at last years Winter Classic was played at Heinz Field with a seating capacity of 65,000 and this year the annual game is back at a baseball park, Citizens Bank Park, with only a seating capacity of just over 43,000.

Tickets for the 2011 NHL Winter at Heinz Field are sold out at the box office and if you don’t already have your tickets, then be prepared to shell out some big bucks. The Pittsburgh Penguins will host the Washington Capitals at Heinz Field this year on January 1st and the game couldn’t be hotter.

The cheapest NHL Winter Classic tickets are running over $300 per ticket just to get in the door and the good seats are running over $700 per ticket and over a $1000 a ticket for the best seats at Heinz Field. And they don’t get any cheaper for the premier hockey game that features two of the best NHL teams each year.

The 2011 NHL Winter Classic is returning  to a football stadium after spending last year at Boston’s Fenway Park and the previous year at Wrigley Field. As always at this time of year the weather may play a factor in the game and all attempts will be made to play even in bad conditions.

The Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins are both playing well this season and should provide a great game at Fenway. The weather will always be questionable but that adds to the game as long as there isn’t a whiteout.
