U2 began the European leg of the highly anticipated 360 Tour with the first stop in Barcelona, Spain on June 30th. The set list included about seven songs from the new LP, No Line in the Horizon, and a mix of songs from various albums including “Angel of Harlem” which Bono dedicated to Michael Jackson. Maybe not the set list most fans would pick out, but that’s U2, mixing it up again. Along with the new set called “the claw”, the stage features a light show that brings back memories of the fantastic light show put on by Pink Floyd. Michael Jackson’s video from the “Thriller” album may be made into a theatrical production now that producer James Nederlander has acquired the rights to the music video. Reportedly songs from “Thriller” and “Off the Wall” would be included in the stage version of the popular video, but no further details were released.

The recession has hurt sales for Theater tickets, both on Broadway and for national touring productions such as Wicked and Phantom of the Opera, so producers are looking for the another “Jersey Boys” or “Tommy” to help out the industry.
