Cheap Baseball and Preseason Hockey Tickets on Tap This Week

by on Sep.15, 2009, under Sports News

This week has a familiar group of events with discount cheap tickets including baseball, hockey and a few concerts. Most MLB baseball teams have a surplus of seats for the remainder of the season with ticket prices at the bottom of the barrel. The New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, and Boston Red Sox all have games this week, and they may be the last of the affordable baseball tickets with the MLB playoffs right around the corner.

The NHL Hockey season is warming up this week and NHL ticket prices are below face value for most of the preseason games. Get them while their cheap, because the regular season prices get pretty steep.

Britney Spears is once again on the list of last minute ticket bargains. Britney has two shows in Texas this week, one at the Toyota Center and the other at American Airlines Center and prices have been dropping steadily for her tour, so look for bargains.

If your a fan of Ben Harper, floor tickets have been reduced for the show at the Fox Theater in Oakland, but they won’t last long. And Blink 182 continues to lead the way in cheap concert tickets with a show at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre this Thursday.

Artists and Managers Scalping Concert Tickets through Ticketmaster

by on Mar.12, 2009, under Business News, Entertainment News

For years ticket brokers have taken the heat for the high prices of tickets and now the truth is finally coming out that the artists and managers have been scalping their own tickets.

We really shouldn’t be using that term scalping, any more than Ticketmaster did when they threw it out for years at ticket brokers, because the tickets never saw the public light of day.

Direct from the artist to the fan, and in the case of Britney Spears, that was over $2000 per ticket for the front row seats when the tickets first went on sale for the concert at Arco Arena in Sacramento. Considering ticket brokers were selling front row tickets for less than $500 per ticket for previous Britney Spears tours, she’s done quite well for herself.

According to Ethan Smith of the Wall Street Journal, “Virtually every major concert tour today involves some official tickets that are priced and sold as if they were offered for resale by fans or brokers, but that are set aside by the artists and promoters, according to a number of people involved in the sales.”

As we had mentioned in a previous post Don’t Blame Ticketmaster, , if you are upset with concert ticket prices, complain to the artist.
