Paula Abdul Confirms She is Leaving American Idol

Paula Abdul confirmed by Tweets to her fans that she was leaving the hugely popular show, American Idol, after eight seasons. Contract negotiations broke down and Abdul made the decision herself to break from the show she helped start.

More than likely the split had to do with money, since it was reported that she was seeking a similar $10 million deal that Ryan Seacrest had recently negotiated to begin in 2010.
