Ticket Bot Software Ring Wiseguys Tickets Finally Broken by FBI

The FBI has busted a Las Vegas based company called Wiseguys Tickets, that allegedly used ticket bots to hack into Ticketmaster computers and purchase millions of dollars in tickets over the last few years. As we reported on ticket bots in February 2009, there were still many companies that were buying up millions of tickets using the bots and preventing consumers from having access to many of the best seats.
Wiseguys ticket bot software allowed them to put holds on hundreds to thousands of tickets for major events and then cherry pick the best seats from the bunch. The fact that it took so long to catch these guys is the most amazing part. Most large ticket brokers around the country had heard of Wiseguys tickets and the best refused to do business with them.
It will be interesting to see how the bust affects individual ticket brokers that relied on Wiseguys tickets to provide them their stock of seats. This should put the heat on the many other companies that are running similar hacking operations and those that they have supplied tickets to, should the FBI decide to release the names.
