John Mellencamp is finishing off a few more concerts with Bob Dylan before heading back out on the road on his own again. Mellencamp’s tour will start on October 29th and he has his yearly Farm Aid concert on October 2nd with Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews and Neil Young.
The concerts on this John Mellencamp tour will be different than the previous tours. Mellencamp will start the shows with the band and perform for about 40 minutes with “a lot of acoustic instruments” . Then he’ll perform solo with just an acoustic guitar for the next 40 minutes. The last 40 minutes will be rock and roll with the full band.
Mellencamp’s new album “No Better Than This” which was produced by T-Bone Burnett will be released on August 17th. The album was recorded at a number of historic blues locations with just a single microphone and a reel to reel recorder. Like the old days. More tour dates may be added.
