Billy Joel put on a surprise last minute show last night in Long Island at the intimate Paramount Theate and rather than making it a greatest hits concert he brought out songs that he has rarely played in concert if at all. But after moving through these songs he moved on to the hits such as “Piano Man’, “You May Be Right” and many more.
From the review posted on RollingStone.com his voice was strong and he very much enjoyed being there and playing for a hometown crowd that filled the street looking like Deadheads praying for a miracle ticket.
Billy Joel’s last tour was with Elton John in 2010 and he’s nixed any thought of rejoining him on tour because of the lack of control over the song selections. This show was a warmup for the small European tour coming up but he did say at the end that he hoped to be seeing the fans soon.
