This year it looks like a lot of bands are hitting the road together in the hopes of selling more tickets. Sting and Paul Simon have just finished a short successful tour together and Kiss and Def Leppard have recently announced they are going out this summer as well as Rod Stewart and Santana.
Some of the other acts on the road together this year include Peter Frampton and the Doobie Brothers, the Backstreet Boys and Avril Lavigne as well as Chicago with REO Speedwagon. For fans the pairings give them two concerts for not much more than the price of one and for the performers they typically sell more tickets.
Country and hip hop acts have the advantage of youthful fans that will sell out a stadium when they decide to join forces but the classic rock bands have been on the road for decades and the only other option to touring together is performing at smaller venues or going on a casino tour.
