Madison Square Garden is one of the most well known arena names in the world, with the best artist in the country stopping in on their concert tours.  If you’re going to visit the New York area and you are looking for something to do, the Garden is always busy.

Madison Square Garden opened in 1968 and resides on the site of the former above ground Pennsylvania Railroad Station, which still runs railway traffic under the Garden. The Garden has been refurbished a number of times since 1968 and may still get renovated once again soon.

The Garden is the home to three professional sports teams including the New York Knicks NBA basketball team, the New York Rangers NHL hockey team and the New York Liberty women’s pro basketball team. There are about 320 events at the Garden each year from sporting events, concerts and family events including the Ringling Brothers Circus, Disney on Ice  and many more.

This year there are many great concerts such as Eric Clapton, Jay-Z and Carole King and James Taylor performing at Madison Square Garden. The Big East Men’s Basketball Tournament will be at the Garden in March as well as the remaining games for the Knicks and Rangers.
