Governor Schwarzenegger Killing Business in California with New Tax Plan. And That’s How He Rolls!
by admin on Sep.30, 2009, under Business News
Governor Schwarzenegger of California is on the wrong track again, this time backing a tax plan that will cripple small business in California. The new tax plan would cut state income taxes for the wealthiest in California, and make up for the loss by starting to tax service industries such as accountants, lawyers, mechanics, etc, adding a huge tax burden on an already stressed business community.
One of the biggest problems with the tax plan is that companies would no longer be able to deduct employee salaries and benefits. Anyone that has run a company, especially a service oriented business will tell you that salaries and benefits are the largest expense they have, and to eliminate the deduction for them would be catastrophic for many companies who are barely making it as it is.
How far do you have to have your head up your ass to believe that this would create more jobs as supporters have said. And they say it will happen because when they cut the state corporate tax rate from 8.84 percent to 4 percent, companies will have more money to hire employees. Isn’t that the old trickle down economics that only a company given a gift such as this could love? Would a company hire more employees when they can cost up to 30% more, because they cannot deduct the cost of doing business!
And Governor, you really believe that giving corporations a handout will encourage them to hire employees they don’t need in the first place, and will drive down company profits when you hire them. Do you think the guys on Wall Street will want to keep the extra savings or decrease their profit by hiring more employees? And what about your promise not to raise taxes? That doesn’t apply I suppose, because once more you are adding taxes, not raising them.
Governor Schwarzenegger and the rest of his cronies who came up with this plan in secret meetings need to pull their collective heads out of their asses and get real. What world do they live in anyway? The California dream is over and more businesses will leave California if this tax plan goes through.
And who will pay for these tax cuts? Not only the small business in California, but every consumer that needs their car repaired, teeth cleaned or any other service job that will raise their prices to offset the loss of the deductions. That’s how the Governor rolls, pass it on to someone else.
Cheap Concert Tickets Dominate the Secondary Market, Ticketmaster Pushing Paperless Tickets
by admin on Sep.30, 2009, under Business News, Discount Ticket Deals, Entertainment News, Music News
Cheap concert tickets appear to be getting more common in the secondary market making it tough for Ticketmaster to sell full priced seats at the last minute. Ticket brokers have been dropping prices on a variety of concerts throughout the country including the Bruce Springsteen concerts at Giants Stadium.
It didn’t help that Bruce has a five day run there, but ticket brokers have already cut prices in the upper level to $25 a seat and lower level seats for $50 each for tonight’s Springsteen concert. Concert ticket prices across the country are way down this year and many artists are feeling the pinch including Barry Manilow, Jamie Foxx, Ron White and Rascal Flatts.
In the secondary ticket market, many of these artists are barely selling for face value for the premium seats that used to go for double that. Ticketmaster is having a tough time because customers are turning to ticket brokers to buy these last minute cheap tickets at a discount, usually face value or less for a poor selling artist.
It’s no wonder Ticketmaster is pushing the paperless tickets so they can have a monopoly on the resell of concert tickets. Then there wouldn’t be any competition for last minute tickets because nobody but Ticketmaster would be able to resell the tickets. How often do you get a good deal from a company that has a stranglehold on the market?
Google Testing the Google “Wave” of the Future of Communication
by Greg on Sep.29, 2009, under Business News, Entertainment News
Google is going to release the beta version of their new web application called Google Wave tomorrow to about 10,000 testers and it looks to be a very cool tool for both business and personal use. The Wave was developed by the Rasmussen brothers of Australia, who developed Google Maps.
The Wave is a communication application that allows multiple users to communicate in real time and see what each person is typing. The users can edit documents from the same screen and others can see the changes simultaneously providing a much more efficient communication tool for business and personal use.
Another interesting use of the Wave application is to embed it in a web site, as Google says, “dropping in a Wave”. There are bugs to be worked out but it looks like a fantastic application that will give email a run for its money.
Ticket Deals This Week Include Springsteen Tickets and U2 Tickets
by admin on Sep.28, 2009, under Discount Ticket Deals, Entertainment News, Music News
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be playing at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, this Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and there are still plenty of tickets available for all the concerts.
The best ticket prices for the cheap seats are available on Friday night, which has the most inventory of tickets on sale, followed by the Wednesday night show. There are no front row seats for the Springsteen tour since all of the floor seating is general admission, standing room only. But for several of the shows you can buy general admission Springsteen tickets for less than the face value at Ticketmaster.
With the high unemployment rate in the New Jersey area it’s no wonder ticket sales are down a bit, but that’s good for the consumer because now you can see a great concert by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at a discounted price. Bruce and the band will be back at Giants Stadium on October 8th and 9th, then over to the Wachovia Center on the 13th, 14th, 19th and 20th of October.
The U2 tour makes a stop at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, Virginia, this Wednesday, October 1st and like Springsteen the floor seats for U2 are all general admission and on sale for less than the face value of U2 Tickets at Ticketmaster, running $35 for general admission U2 tickets at the time of this post.
There are some very good seats available for U2 in the lower level near the stage, but if you want to stand in front of the stage, you better get there very early! You can catch U2 at the new Cowboy Stadium on October 12th, and the Rose Bowl on October 25th as well as a few other tour dates before they wind up the US portion of their tour.
Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football at Cowboy Stadium, Tony Romo on the Hot Seat
by admin on Sep.28, 2009, under Sports News
The Dallas Cowboys will be playing the Carolina Panthers tonight at Cowboys Stadium for a NFL Monday Night Football game that will be testing quarterback Tony Romo once again.
Without Terrel Owens this year, things are not going to be any easier for Tony, especially after last years playoff blowout that saw the Cowboys lose to the Philadelphia Eagles 44-6.
The Cowboys shouldn’t have too much trouble with the Panthers, who have lost their first two games and are putting up some of the worst stats in the league. But the Cowboys are playing at home on NFL Monday Night Football, and the loss of the first home game at the new Cowboy Stadium last week won’t go away anytime soon for Jerry Jones.
Dallas Cowboys tickets are on sale for all the home games at Cowboys Stadium and for any road game as well.
